Venue

The congress will take place in the new BT Convention Centre, located in the former Kings Dock.

The Arena & Convention Centre in Liverpool opened in January 2008, and has already become a new landmark on Liverpool's waterfront. It may be a bold architectural statement and the most environmentally friendly building of its type in the world, but the building's greatest asset is its unique location alongside the Albert Dock and the Three Graces.

The building's cutting edge design, by leading architects Wilkinson Eyre, is another talking point. The ACC is the first purpose-built arena with convention centre built in the UK and is in a world heritage site. The conference centre has been named after communications giant BT in a sponsorship deal. BT is also the official sponsor of the Capital of Culture campaign. The facility will therefore be equipped with the very latest technology for users, making it among the best- equipped centres in Europe, fitted out with communications technology supplied by Liverpool Direct, BT's joint venture company with Liverpool City Council, including full wireless coverage and facilities for digital TV and electronic signage.

The BT Convention Centre is expected to host the majority of ACC Liverpool's future conferences and offers 1,350 seats, a 3,725 sq metre multi-purpose hall, 70,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space and 18 further meeting rooms.

This new waterfront conference venue has been named the best event venue in the UK - before any delegates even entered the building! Judges bestowed the accolade on the ACC Liverpool (which comprises the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena), at the International Confex conference, held in February at Earls Court, in London. The judges said "This is a venue that has grabbed headlines since the turn of the year. It is a 21st-century green, sustainable venue - a shining example of best practice. This is a venue worthy of the claim: Capital of Conference."

Please note, luggage can be stored in the BT Convention Centre after you have checked out of your hotel, at a cost of £1 per day. Alternatively, most hotels will offer baggage storage free of charge.
