Social programme

The congress includes a full social programme for delegates and their partners, providing a range of opportunities to meet and mingle with other delegates and to visit a range of locations in the city and beyond.

Weekend 14-15 June

Sightseeing

The weekend prior to the Congress offers early arrivals the opportunity to be tourists for a couple of days, visiting sites of interest in the city and further afield. To help visitors plan the weekend, we have prepared a downloadable brochure with the highlights of the city and other places within two hours' journey. When you read about the possibilities, you may decide to add an extra week onto your trip!

The weekend will also be a chance to catch up on some of the Capital of Culture activities.

International orientation

We plan to offer a short briefing session (about one hour) for international delegates, as an introduction to the UK, to Liverpool, to research management terminology in the UK, and to ARMA. The briefing will take place in Jurys hotel at 16:00 on Sunday 15 June and all international delegates are warmly invited to attend this free event. Afternoon tea will be served; please let us know if you plan to attend, so we know how many cucumber sandwiches to order!

International delegates are invited to join ARMA officers for dinner in the Merseyside Maritime Museum at 20:00. Dinner will be served in the fourth floor gallery, with view over Liverpool's historic dock areas. Dinner is free to registered delegates who must notify ARMA of their intention to attend the dinner (additional drinks from the bar must be paid for). Delegates travelling with partners who wish to attend the reception and dinner should contact the ARMA office for details of costs.

Weekend welcome and registration desk

A welcome and registration desk will be staffed over the weekend in Jurys Hotel, adjacent to the Arena and Convention Centre. Delegates arriving early and requiring assistance or advice on matters related to the Congress are invited to visit the welcome and registration desk, whose opening hours will be advertised nearer the time of the Congress. Registration for Monday's events will open at 16:00 on Sunday 15 June. ARMA regrets, we cannot assist with matters relating to hotel bookings, except in the case of those speakers whose bookings were made on their behalf by ARMA.

Please note: from Monday 16 June, Welcome and Registration will be located in the Arena and Convention Centre and there will be no help point in Jurys Hotel. Opening times will be advertised nearer the time of the Congress. Registration for Monday's events will continue from 08:00 on Monday, in the Arena and Convention Centre.

Newcomers and Poster Exhibitors' Reception

The Congress poster exhibition will open at 18:30 on Monday 16 June at the newcomers' and poster exhibitors' reception. The Mayor of Liverpool will formally open the Congress, welcoming all delegates to the City of Liverpool.

The reception has been sponsored by our Silver Partner Agresso, and is free to registered delegates attending their first ARMA conference, and to poster exhibitors (additional drinks from the bar must be paid for). Delegates travelling with partners who wish to attend the reception should contact the ARMA office for details of costs.

Dinner is not included for delegates who are not speaking at the Congress, and delegates will be invited to join dinner groups in various local restaurants. Information about the many local restaurants will be provided in delegate information packs, and delegates are invited to sign up at the welcome and registration desk to join a dinner group, or to make an arrangement with colleagues.

Speakers' dinner

Speakers are invited to join the organising team for dinner at 19:30 on Monday 16 June. The dinner has been sponsored by our Silver Partner Evidence and Symplectic, and is free to speakers in any part of the Congress programme (i.e. the Conference and the Pre- and Post-Conference events) (additional drinks from the bar must be paid for). Speakers travelling with partners who wish to attend the reception should contact the ARMA office for details of costs. Because of the large number of speakers at the Congress, it is unlikely that all speakers will be able to join this dinner group. It is essential that you confirm your wish to join us for dinner with your speaker confirmation form, otherwise regrettably we cannot guarantee a place for you.

Tuesday 17- Wednesday 18 June

Conference dinner at Aintree Racecourse

The main conference takes place on 17-18 June, with the Conference Dinner on the evening of 17 June. The dinner will be held at the world-famous Aintree Racecourse, home of the famous Grand National steeplechase. The dinner venue has stunning views over the racetrack and the parade ring, and some delegates will have the opportunity to tour the onsite museum before dinner. The dinner is included in the delegate registration fee for the conference (additional drinks from the bar must be paid for). Delegates travelling with partners who wish to attend the reception should contact the ARMA office for details of costs.

Aintree Racecourse is a short distance outside the city of Liverpool, and coaches will be provided from the main hotels for the 20-minute journey to and from the racecourse. Times of coach pick-ups will be published in delegate information packs, and it is the responsibility of delegates to ensure they are in time to be picked up. Latecomers can make their way to Aintree by taxi or Metro - information will be provided in delegate information packs. Delegates requiring assistance with coach travel are asked to advise the conference team of this in the 'special requirements' section of their booking.

The conference finishes at 17:00 on Wednesday 18 June. A small reception for members of the UK and international organising teams and their guests may be arranged for this evening.

Thursday 19 June

The Post-Conference workshop takes place on Thursday 19 June, with the whole Congress programme finishing at 16:30. Delegates staying on after the conference, and the post-conference workshop, will again have the chance to visit the local area.
